Kaytlin got to do some fun things for her birthday. It started with some yummy breakfast crepes and then off to my friend's house to get her hair done special for school. Her teacher gave her an awesome headband to wear and Kaytlin was amazed at how many people at school knew it was her birthday! ;) She requested cupcakes with little mini heart cookies on top, and of course with rainbow sprinkles. After school she and Lexi decorated her cake (more sprinkles there). For dinner John made rainbow spaghetti and we had some family over for dinner, presents and dessert.
Kaytlin is so easy to love! She's so kind and thoughtful, easy to please, and almost always cheerful. She loves to read and I'm amazed at how focused she can be. When she is on a project she has such an attention to detail that she can work on it almost endlessly by herself. She recently made a large shoebox full of telescopes (I counted over 30) and found all kinds of uses for them. Before my piano lessons start she will often get herself started on some art project or another. You wouldn't believe how fast she can go through scotch tape!
One quirk of hers is how curious she is about smells. Every time she washes her hands she smells the soap. When she helps in the kitchen (another favorite thing of hers) she goes out of her way to smell every ingredient, and will snitch on most ingredients, including flour. ?? She can usually detect smells and identify them before the rest of us can tell there's a scent in the air. I can't think of any more examples, but seriously, she smells everything! And then she has the best facial expressions. One of these I'll have to try to catch them on camera.
Kaytlin looks up to Lexi and wants to be just like her. She gets jealous that her sister is taking piano lessons and is in gymnastics. We're talking about getting her signed up for gymnastics in the fall. She'll be well prepared thanks to her mini home coach (Lexi).

awesome cake by the way!
I love that number 5 cake! How interesting about her sense of smell! There's got to be some cool job she can get with that talent!
