Sunny day hike

It was a warm and sunny day, and John's day off!  We called up his family and invited them on a hike with us to Ward creek.  A member of our ward noticed the 2 nice days and then the regular rainy weather coming up and joked "Okay everyone, enjoy our 2 days of summer!"  I sure hope we have more days like this and if so we'll drop everything again and go out and enjoy it.  It got up to 80 degrees (that's pretty fantastic!)

Since John is the boss of 4 stores, he's always on call.  Luckily he only got 2 short calls.

The water was freezing!!  John and I got in to our ankles and felt just fine with that! :)
A great day!

Recent life

When John and I were engaged (which happened less than a month after we meet) we went up to visit his family.  The second he walked in the door his little sisters (like 10 and 12 at the time) ran to him and treated him like he was a hero.  I knew from watching the way he interacted with them that he was going to be a good Dad someday.  I feel so grateful for the man he is.  He's a hard worker, but also knows how to play.  He's faithful and sacrifices a lot of time and energy in service to others.  My girls love him so much they want to marry him, but too bad kids - he's all mine! :)

The kids helped draw/color this map for Father's Day

We've been enjoying the radishes from our garden.  Everything else is still growing and not ready to eat.  We attached some copper mesh to the garden box to keep slugs away but I think there might be some small ones still making it in. :(
After "riding" their bikes at home we packed 'em up and went to Lexi's school to ride around the playground.

My baby is a toddler now!  She's 14 months now and just acting so big!

School's out!

I'm both excited and a little nervous about school being out.  The girls are either best friends or fighting.  Lexi's been so used to a routine and having activities all planned out for her (that's school - not me!) and I know she's going to really want to keep up some type of schedule.  I guess it's time to get organized.
Pinterest will be my inspiration and I'm hoping to do a bunch of projects with them this summer.
I bought some cool/educational books from a children's book company my sister works for
www.marishasbooks.com
that I'm hoping to put to use as well.  Sounds nerdy but I think we'll have a schedule and have science day, music day, art day, etc.  If I were on top of things there would be themes, but I'm not that gung-ho.
I also have a part time summer job working at
www.cedarslodge.com
3 days a week 2-10pm at the front desk.
What kinds of things will you be doing this summer?
