Week of sunshine

It's always nice to get some sun here in rainy Ketchikan. Last week it was pretty much sunny all week. The girls spent a lot of time outside and John got a lot of yard work done too.
Here the girls are looking at Lexi's bracelet that changes color outside.

PS- no baby born yet. Kaytlin has croup and been absolutely miserable lately. So a blessing in disguise, hopefully we'll all be healthy when this baby decides to come.

38 1/2 weeks and spring break

I invited my friend Ashley over this week and we worked on some sewing stuff (that time of year again!). I patched up 2 of Lexi's jeans, and made another pair into shorts. With Ashley's help I made these aprons. Side note - when Lexi was 2 she was obsessed with Nemo and this material used to be curtains in her room. It's been sitting with my sewing stuff for 2 years now, and I got my inspiration from "The Sound of Music" to make them into something wearable. Moving on...
Sometimes I forget how close we are to the ocean. It's literally at the end of our little road, 3 houses down from us. Private property, but still, we can see the ocean from the third bedroom (which is pretty much a storage room right now)...
Kaytlin ran into this picture just in time. There's a chance I may get induced tomorrow. Next post will (hopefully) be baby pictures!

Gotta add one more thing:
Spring break right? One day Lexi begged me and begged me to play school with her and Kaytlin. So I check out a few websites and find one that had preschool mini lessons. We learned about a letter, did some workpages, read a book, had a snack and then recess right? But get this - her idea was go to her school for recess. It's not too far away so that's what we did. Funny kid huh? I'm so glad she's loving school and her classmates. The only thing that's she's had a hard time with is that she misses her sister. Cute huh? Hope you all enjoyed some sunshine like we did all week.

Change of plans

So John and I were supposed to be in Anchorage now, but our plans had to change. I went to my check up earlier this week and things weren't quite right. I was measuring too small and after an utlrasound found out I didn't have enough amniotic fluid (supposed to be at a level 10-15 and I was at a 3). So instead of packing for our temple trip, I got to check into the hospital for an overnight stay. Chances were pretty high that I'd deliver the next day.
Four IV bags, a priesthood blessing, and 24 hours later tests surprisingly looked good and I was able to go home. "Now," my midwife says, "you're not on bedrest but..." and so the rest of this pregnancy I have to be extremely careful and take it easy, oh and I have to drink a whole ton more water too.
Of course the next day was a warmer, sunny day in Ketchikan (rare). I spent most of the day being grumpy and shopping online (turns out we needed a new infant car seat and we decided to go ahead and order the girls' birthday presents so they'd get here in plenty of time).
After Lexi came home from preschool we spent some time outside. It was so hard not to spend the whole day doing some much needed yard work! But just being out with my girls and getting some sunshine made a big difference for me. Looks like the next few days are supposed to be nice out, so even though I can't go for a walk or do much of anything, I think I better step outside and feel the sunshine.
What's killing me is that Lexi has Spring Break next week and I feel so bad that we can't get out and do much for it. I probably shouldn't even let her invite friends over, which is something she's been looking forward to. Good think she likes art projects right?
Part of me is wishing we could have just had our baby since I'm technically full term (37 weeks) and she looked to weigh about 6 lb 14 oz. I'd much rather deliver her at that than 8 pounds! I'll have check ups twice a week now so we'll see what happens.
Trying to keep positive! Thank goodness for sunshine, a supportive husband (he's really been great and done a ton!) and girls that get along for the most part and keep smiling. And a healthy baby despite everything.
Happy thoughts....

PS-I'll eventually put on a picture of me with my belly. The only one I had was from the hospital and looked too depressing to share! :)

Time bomb ticking...

I'm at that no-clothes-fit-me-anymore stage with only 3 1/2 weeks left for my due date. John and I booked a trip to Anchorage for next week, I'll be 37 weeks, but if everything goes like like the last two, baby won't come until April 13th. My friend Ashley thinks this baby will surprise us and come early - maybe even on our trip. So just in case I'm bringing an outfit. It actually wouldn't be that bad if she comes on our trip. Why? I could get an epidural in Anchorage. They aren't even an option here.
I've been watching some kids lately. A 3 yr old girl 4 days a week and her twin bro and sis (5 yr olds) for an hour, right after preschool. It's certainly kept me busier than I thought, but it's made time fly by and I think will it help me transition to having 3 kids all the time. I'll watch them 2 more days next week and then I'm done.
Back to the no clothes fitting - the 5 year old asked me if I wear the same clothes every day. She wasn't too far off. I have these nice-looking and super comfortable khaki pants I wear almost every day. I'll probably wear them more often than not after the baby's born too. It's just not worth it to buy new clothes that I'll only wear for less than a month. So if I'm in public, you'll see me in my khakis, and if you come visit me at home, I'll be sporting one of John's shirts and sweats, or khakis. :)
