Gummy smile!

Goofy before school. A very rainy day (Hence the raincoat). She's official - all day kindergarten! She's loving it! Only downside in her mind is that she has to leave her baby sister at home. :)

I've been making homemade baby food. Sweet potatoes cooked, mashed and frozen in ice trays. 2 cubes makes a serving.
Addie had an allergic reaction to Gerber baby food bananas (I think) on Saturday. The sides of her head and face suddenly got really red and her eyes got all puffy. Twenty minutes after I stopped feeding her it all went away thankfully.

Clover Pass Humpback Whales

We've been lucky this year to see the whales bubblefeeding again. It's supposed to be a really rare thing to see, but it's becoming tradition here. For the third year in a row they've come to Clover Pass to feed. They eat 1 ton a day each. This pod has been hanging out for 2 weeks I think. It's an absolutely beautiful process! Friends of ours went out with an underwater microphone and listened to the whales communicating as they were feeding. I wish you all could experience this.

First they work together to create a ring of bubbles, trapping the fish in the middle. Then they zoom up in the middle with their mouths wide open, catching the fish.
Then they swim at the top a while while the white birds eat the leftovers.




There are tons of boats out fishing for salmon. We counted 60 boats that we could see but there were even more farther in the distance. Whale tail!

Day of Service

Our ward did a food drive for the homeless shelter as well as an EXPO at the Plaza (some people call it a mall but it isn't!) :) Over 20 tables were there teaching topics ranging from 72 hour kits to budgeting, mental health, food storage, and ways to save money. There were kids activities with each station, flyers, and really cool presentations. I learned a lot and was happy to see how everything came together. Cub scouts and leaders spent the day collecting food door to door and we ended up with tons of food for the shelter too. We ended it all with a potluck at the church with the homeless people. A very full day!

I don't consider myself crafty or creative but came up with something I was really proud of. Who knew plastic grocery bags could be turned into something useful? And next time we see a good pallet we'll probably save it and turn it into something useful too.

As we were talking to people coming by it was cool to hear how they appreciated all of our hard work. Several made a point to come up and thank us for doing the Expo. Some asked if we were going to be doing one every year (I don't think so!). :)

Seriously!?

According to a friend of mine we got 27 inches of rain this week! It's not even October yet! Thankfully we woke up to a beautiful sunny day today which is extra good cause John is camping with the scouts tonight.

Little baby

Sweet little Addie is just that - little. She is 10 lbs 9 oz which means she's only gained 2 lbs 9 oz in 5 months. Her stats are: head 25%, length 50%, weight less than 5%. So we're starting solids a little earlier to get her some more calories. Thankfully developmentally she's doing great! Enjoy some pictures of the babe.

Her bum is so small she slides around in her bumbo. And check it out - she takes a binky now!
