Six Inches Shorter

Last week I got a much needed hair cut (Lexi took this picture). It's been a while since it was this short.
John and I hosted another murder mystery thing we did recently (our camera wasn't in the best spot for pictures).

Lexi playing with her new friends. We swapped kids this weekend with some friends of ours. It's a win-win-win situation (Office). We both get dates without paying a sitter and the kids have fun 2 nights in a row.

We're moving

We deciced to move here for the summer. John will be managing the Del Sol store and Marisha (my sister) will be working in it too. I'm so excited for the adventure and to hang out with Marisha. It's warmer and sunnier in Skagway than where live now and just a cute little historic town. There's 862 people who live there year-round and I have no idea how many will be there during the cruise ship season. We're going to take the bare minimum to live with because we'll be living in a one bedroom apartment that will (likely) be furnished. The girls and I will be going on lots of picnics, walks, and hikes, so hopefully I'll be able to lose some weight and maybe get some color! I'm excited just thinking about seeing grass again and going on this fun 5 month adventure! There's a bigger town like an hour and a half away in Canada that has a Walmart so we'll need to take our passports. Anyone know if you need passports for kids going to Canada? Also, I'm trying to decide on whether or not I should get a two-kid stoller, or go with our little umbrella stroller for Kaytlin and make Lexi walk everywhere with me. That just sounds mean.
As for the one bedroom apartment - I'm trying to come up with ways to make the most of our space. The girls will have the bedroom and John and I will have our bed in the front room. I'm thinking we'll eat on a folding table and chairs so they can be moved away when we're not using them. Maybe we could get a futon and that will be our bed for the summer...Any other ideas?

School Mascots

So the other day we went to dinner with some friends and were naming off all these pathetic/random/weird school mascots. Here were a few:
King Salmon (that's the high school here)
Bombers (good old Richland with their mushroom cloud)
Blue Ponies
Russets (yes, the potato and yes, a school in Idaho)
Cavemen
Jack Rabbits
Any others you know of?

Snow days

It has snowed like crazy here lately. Usually it will get warmer and the rain will melt it away. In fact, in Primary the kids sing the snowman song like this, "In the rain it melted small, small, small." Church has been canceled the last two weeks and our car was pretty much buried over night in the first big storm. It doesn't do so well in the snow, mainly because of all the steep streets around here, which means I have spent a lot of time at home. You would think it would be cleaner.... It was fun to take Lexi out to play in the snow. We don't have a yard at all and so she got to play in the gravel parking lot while I shoveled around our car. We had a good time out there.
There was a huge basketball tournament over the school break and we went to several of the boys and girls games. My two sisters in law are cheerleaders and it's so fun to see them cheering - they're really good at it. I must say, I'm still getting used to shouting "Go Kings" because I'm used to the Cougars or Braves (yeah, I'm still stuck to my high school mascot). In fact, it's a real effort not to shout "BRAVES" at the end of the national anthem. Seriously, every time I still get ready to only to reind myself that I'm not at a Kamiakin game. No, instead I have to get used to cheering on the Kings - king salmon that is. Yes, the mascot is a fish, gotta get used to that.

Kaytlin has reached some milestones. She has her first tooth and another is on its way. She crawls everywhere now and has learned how to clap and point. Chew that tongue baby!
